Master’s course

Educational Philosophy

Due to the declining birthrate and the aging population of Japan, we face the problems: corresponding the health and medical services for the prolonged periods of care, performing qualitative and quantitative improvement for residential care,and making the architecture for providing client-centered services. Appropriate interventions are needed to ensure all individuals lead a satisfactory community life in the stage of oldage.

To meet such requirement, Kanagawa University of Human Services Graduate School train students in acquiring health, medical care and social welfare services in coordination and integration with global perspective. Developing their specialized nature of the professions by interdisciplinary communication, students are expected to become advanced professionals capable of collaborative contribution for the development of health, medical care and social welfare services.

Educational Goals

The Graduate Course of Health and Social Services has these educational goals for students to acquire:

 

  1. To acquire skills for systemically organizing practical issues of the problems of health, medical care and social welfare services, and transmitting the findings to the society.
  2. To acquire the ability to carry out the administrative leadership in the government, institution and community.
  3. To acquire the ability accumulating practical knowledge and experience in scientific manner, and enhancing the academic level of knowledge and finding.

Doctoral course

Educational Philosophy

In view of the onset of rapidly progressing social problems such as declining birthrate and aging population, we have made it our educational philosophy to promote education and research that contributes to leading the practical provision of human services relating to health, medical care and social welfare in the present, and in the near and distant future.

Based on this educational philosophy, in this course, we aim to enable students to produce scientific research outcomes based on organic collaboration with the fields of healthcare and social care by engaging in studies in the academic discipline of human services , investigating the practical provision of human services in an interdisciplinary manner, from the perspectives of nursing, nutrition, social welfare and rehabilitation.

Educational Goals

The Graduate Course of Health and Social Services has these educational goals for students to acquire:

 

  1. To train researchers equipped with an in-depth knowledge of the field of health and social welfare, who will engage in research that will contribute to the development and validation of the effectiveness of services and care, training of health and social welfare personnel, policy recommendations and extension of healthy lifespans and other advancements, with ethical values and a sense of duty with regard to the practical provision of human services.
  2. To train educators capable of assessing phenomena with regard to problems in the field of health and social welfare, from an interdisciplinary and international perspective, making effective use of research outcomes, and guiding the practical provision of human services.
  3. To train practical service providers who can engage in management across multiple job types, lead collaboration and integration, and make effective use of their research abilities to initiate transformations in practical settings, with specialist knowledge and scientific basis in the field of health and social welfare.

Graduate School of Health Innovation

Master's course

Japan is now facing a “100 Year Life” era. There are many issues Japan faces, being one of the few countries with the highest average life expectancy. We cannot cope with this dynamic change in the social structure due to declining birth rate and aging population using the conventional system. The mission of Graduate School of Health Innovation is to revolutionize not only technology but the social system as well to build a society where each and every person can live a health life based on Kanagawa prefecture’s new ”ME-BYO” concept.

We will train 4 types of innovators:” Researcher”, “Business Person”, “ Administrator”, and “Policy Maker” who work on creating innovation, based on public health. Our goal is to develop human resources with a wide range of knowledge and skills of advanced technology, data science and administration who can cooperate with diverse stakeholders.

Doctoral course

Our mission in the Doctoral Course is to motivate and develop our students to become qualified researchers engaged in advanced level of health innovation research, which is more professional and advanced than Master's Course of the School.Our students will also learn to become professionals with advanced knowledge, to engage in various fields such as administrative sector, related industries, healthcare and welfare institutions, etc.

As international and advanced professionals, our graduates will take good leadership needed for continuous improvement in healthcare, supporting the "100-year life" era to come.
