On Wednesday, March 27th, an epidemiology research team from the National University of Singapore (NUS), led by Dr. Feng Lei visited SHI. Dr. Feng is currently a Principal Investigator and Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychological Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at NUS.

Following an introduction of our school from Dr. Hiroto Narimatsu, Ms. Kaisy Xinhong Ye, a PhD scholar at NUS, gave us a presentation on the relationship between diet and cognitive impairment among the ageing population in Singapore, and Dr. Kaname Watanabe from the Kanagawa Cancer Center Research Institute shared an update on the joint research with Kanagawa Prefecture Future ME-BYO Cohort Study.

We also had a presentation on an early study on the relationship between dementia and oral health from Dr. Yu Kubota, an assistant professor at SHI, and on the result of digital peer support in promoting step counts with a smartphone app called 'Minchalle' from Ms. Masumi Okamoto, a researcher at the Center for Innovation Policy.

Among presentations, many questions were given from the attendees, and some discussions even led to the suggestions on further joint activities between NUS and SHI.

There were 17 attendees in total.
